His Story
Beyond The Notes.
Raees is an autistic pianist from Malaysia who learns mainly by listening and finding the notes at the piano. Music brings him focus, joy, and a meaningful way to connect with others.
How It Began
Raees’s interest in music emerged naturally at home. His family noticed that he listened closely to songs and tried to recreate familiar melodies on the keyboard.
They gave him opportunities to explore. He was allowed to repeat songs, practise in his own way, and spend time with the music that interested him.
As his interest grew, a teacher helped him develop his playing. Raees continued learning through careful listening, guidance, repetition, and regular practice.
What began at home eventually led to performances at schools, community gatherings, concerts, charity events, and on television.
How Raees Learns
Listening, repeating, and finding his own way
Raees does not rely on traditional sheet music when learning his songs. He listens to a song, explores it at the piano, and works through the melody and structure in stages.
The process is not always immediate. It can involve a lot of repetition, concentration, and patience. Those quiet hours of practice are an important part of every finished performance.
With support from his teacher and family, Raees continues to develop his musical skills at a pace and in a way that works for him.
More Than a Talent
Raees’s ability at the piano is worth celebrating, but it is only one part of who he is.
His family does not share his story to suggest that every autistic child has a hidden or exceptional talent. They share it because every child deserves to be understood as an individual.
Every child should have the opportunity to discover what brings them interest, confidence, connection, or joy. For Raees, one of those things is music.
Every Child’s Journey Is Different
Raees’s story is only one story. Autistic children have different personalities, interests, strengths, challenges, and ways of communicating.
Not every child will connect with music, and a talent does not determine a child’s worth. Sometimes an interest is easy to notice. Sometimes it takes time to appear. Joy can also be found in small, everyday moments.
